Accessing the Library

If you think you may need assistance getting access to materials, please email askwater@aqua.wisc.edu in advance of your visit to schedule an appointment.

Entrances

  • An accessible entrance is located at the south-facing front door of Goodnight Hall (1975 Willow Drive).
    • There are curb cuts from the parking lot to the sidewalk, a ramp to the front door, and two paddle-operated automatic doors.
  • Take elevator #2 to the 2nd floor, and follow the signs to the Wisconsin Water Library.

Parking & Transportation

There are 3 accessible parking stalls in front Goodnight Hall (1975 Willow Drive):

  • 1 UW Disabled Permit parking stall, which requires a special UW Disabled Permit (see Transportation Services site for more info).
  • 2 UW Speech and Hearing Clinic (UWSHC) parking permit stalls. Permits are issued in the clinic lobby for parking during appointments at the UWSHC. Email askwater@aqua.wisc.edu to request a parking permit in advance of your visit.

Interior Space Accessibility

  • The door to the Wisconsin Water Library is 29” wide.
  • There is one large conference table that is 29” high.
  • The pathways between the bookshelves are 24”-26” wide. If you need assistance getting access to materials, email askwater@aqua.wisc.edu.

Reservable Study Rooms and Spaces

There are no reservable spaces in the Wisconsin Water Library. The Libraries have many other reservable study spaces. Make a reservation through UW-Madison Libraries.

Quiet Spaces

The Wisconsin Water Library is generally very quiet unless it is being used for a meeting.

Restrooms

There are restrooms in the hallway across from the Wisconsin Water Library, each with one accessible stall. The restrooms have manually operated doors. Restroom doorways are 29” wide.

Inaccessible Spaces

Lighting

The Wisconsin Water Library has motion-detected fluorescent ceiling lights.

Technology
