Borrow Materials
Any adult Wisconsin resident can check out materials, including books and education kits, from the Wisconsin Water Library for free. To borrow materials from the Water Library:
- Request materials by using the request form below, visiting the library, or contacting us.
- Pick up the items at your local public library.
- Renew books up to two times by contacting the Water Library. Renew kits once by contacting the Water Library.
- Return the items to your local public library.

Please note: Members of the Universities of Wisconsin Community should use the library catalog to request materials.
Please also visit the Aquatic Sciences Center Publications Store, which features a collection of the most popular publications from the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant and Water Resources Institutes, including brochures, fact sheets, and posters. Many are free.
Borrowing Policies
Books: Loan and Renewal Periods
Each loan period is 4 weeks or 28 days. You may renew any item twice if it has not been requested by another patron.

Kits: Loan and Renewal Periods
Loan periods for education kits is two months. You may renew a kit once if it has not been requested by another patron.
